Maurice O’ Connell


Maurice is a consultant working in the NGO sector as a coach and mentor. His professional interests lie in developing a more cohesive response that impacts those on the periphery of public services.


He worked with the South Inner City Community Development Association (SICCDA) from 2020 to 2022, providing strategic support to the Board and staff in a time of transition as they explored a new strategic approach to a potential merger.


He was CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland from 1998 to 2013. He is the co-founder and former chair of Acquired Brain Injury Ireland (2000-2017). He is a director, former Chair, and co-founder of Anvers Housing. An Association providing supported housing for people with an Acquired Brain Injury.


He is the Independent Chair of a cross-government steering group of a demonstration project providing 52 units of “Housing with Support” for older people, opened in May 2025 in Dublin 8, Inchicore.


He is Chair of The New Life Centre, in Darndale – a Family Resource Centre

He is the independent chair of an Alliance of 8 Age Sector NGOs.

He holds a B. Divinity and a Master’s in Applied Psychology.
