As well as being a resident of the Liberties since 2013, Denis has been Chief Administrative Officer of the Association for Dental Education in Europe since 2013. He holds a Professional Doctorate in Professional Regulatory Governance, a Masters of Business Administration, an MSc in Business and Management Research Methodologies and a PG Certificate in Professional Educational Practice.
He has considerable board experience having served as a ministerial appointed lay member of the Nursing and Midwifery Regulator in Ireland (2013 to 2022) where he chaired its Preliminary Proceedings Committee (2017-2022). He was subsequently appointed to the council of CORU (Ireland's Health and Social Care Regulator) in 2023, where he was appointed Deputy Chair in 2025.
He has been adjunct faculty with the Graduate School of Healthcare Management at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland since 2005, where he leads and teaches on two modules on the MSc Programme on Quality and Safety in Healthcare Management. His research interests include Regulatory Governance, Onboarding, Socio-Cultural Theory, Qualitative Methods, Action Research and Stakeholder Governance.
Denis is passionate about his community, education, diversity and inclusion and applies these in his approach to board leadership.
